The department is also committed to graduating teachers and researchers who adhere to professional ethics and a sense of responsibility, and who actively contribute to the development of the educational process and the building of society.

Description
Mathematics is considered one of the fundamental sciences upon which various branches of scientific and applied knowledge are based. It plays a pivotal role in developing logical and analytical thinking and in supporting scientific and technological progress. In light of the importance of this discipline in preparing qualified cadres capable of contributing to educational and scientific development, this proposal comes forward to establish a Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Education, to serve as a fundamental pillar for the preparation of specialized teachers and researchers in the field of mathematics

Mission
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics seeks to prepare educational cadres who are scientifically, professionally, and research qualified in mathematics and statistics and their applications, through distinguished academic programs that keep pace with cognitive and technological developments, in accordance with quality standards, in order to contribute to meeting labor market needs and serving the community.
Goals
The department seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Preparing educational specialists who are scientifically and professionally qualified in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards to work in the fields of mathematics, statistics, and their applications in various general education institutions.
- Developing students’ creative abilities and training them to use the scientific method of thinking when confronting and solving problems.
- Linking the sciences of mathematics and statistics and their applications to society and its various industrial, productive, and environmental institutions.
- Employing modern technological tools and smart teaching methods, and providing diverse enrichment approaches in teaching and research, in order to keep pace with cognitive and technological developments.
- Encouraging research programs and participation in scientific conferences, seminars, training courses, and workshops.
- Strengthening and documenting academic links in the fields of mathematics and statistics between the department and corresponding departments in Libyan, Arab, and international universities and scientific institutions
